A nice
sturdy box is best. Please stay away from envelopes. They can be torn
during shipping and your media could fall out. All though we
have never had this happen we don't feel you should take the chance.
If you use USPS (post office) to mail your tapes or films and use
their "Priority Mail" service, they will supply you with a box free of
charge.

We have
talked to the Post Master about this question and found that they only
x-ray packages coming into the country from abroad and, packages going
to very important recipients such as governors and presidents. They
assured us that our packages would not get x-rayed. But, if you are
still uneasy, or you are sending from somewhere other than the United
States, wrap your tapes in aluminum foil.
5.
Yes. Unless you request not to
get them back. If you choose not to have them returned your return
shipping is only $7.00 regardless of how many originals you sent.

We charge $7.00 for the
first tape, film or cassette and $0.50 for each additional. So,
for example a client with three tapes would have a return shipping fee
of $8.00. ($7 for the first tape and $1 [$0.50x2] for the other
2 tapes.)
If you are choosing
not to have your originals returned, your return shipping is a flat
$7.00 regardless of how many CDs or DVDs you are having returned.

Safe
Shipping Tips:
We
understand sending your irreplaceable tapes to us for transfer can
be a scary task. With a few steps of caution your tapes can arrive
just as safely as driving them across town. In over five years of
doing mail order business we have never had a clients tapes lost or
damaged in the mail. The purpose of this page is to share with you
what we have learned over the years. These are not just our
opinions.
-
Do not
use envelopes of any kind to ship your tapes. They are prone to
rip open during delivery. This includes the Priority envelopes the
post office gives out. It seems like the logical choice for just one
reel or small reels but please refrain. The post office will give
you free boxes when shipping Priority mail.
-
Do not
use Media Mail. "Media Mail" is a form of third class mail the
post office uses for shipping books, tapes and other forms of media.
Your tapes and movies would qualify for this type of transportation
but we do not recommend you use it. Considering what you are mailing
this is no time to pinch a penny.
-
Don't
forget your Return address. Please make sure you have supplied a
legible return address on the outside of the box. You should also
have our order form on the inside of the box with your contact
information. It is important to have an address on the inside and
the outside of the box. If something was to happen to the box that
left the outside label unreadable, the shipper will open the box and
look for a shipping address inside. It is very common for clients to
forget to include the order form. So please, don't forget the order
form.
-
Use
Priority Mail. We highly recommend the Priority Mail service
offered by your local post office. They will even supply you with a
free box. This is a great way to ship your tapes. In most cases your
tapes will arrive to us in 2 days. The less time your tapes have to
travel the better. Don't sweat the return trip.
-
After we
have transferred your tapes or movies we return your originals with
the new CDs/DVDs. We also keep a digital copy of your files here in
the event something happens on the return trip. Just a little extra
precaution we take to ensure your memories are safe.
